Totally agree there. As i said in my previous post , if they can sound lively on air and accordingly enthisiastic about what they are doing then fair doos.

Good idea Neil. I think there is definately a place for just such a station in the UK.

There has been much talk over the past few months about BBC local radio stations dropping most of their medium wave frequencies.

When One Direction accidentally thanked Radio 1 for their Brit Award when it was sponsored by Capital Radio (ooooops!)

I think that as Christopher suggested , pretty much all radio stations these days are formatted to only be listened to for up to about an hour at a time.

I had not heard of the station , 7 Waves until you mentioned it - so i looked it up as i like to know about all things radio.

I have not read , word for word , the licence conditions for a community station - there is a risk i would lose the will to live if i did , most likely , but i thought that such stations could not...

The good news is that WE7 are expanding the 1000 track limit for playlists - can't wait! ;)

Congratulations to Chris Moyles for becoming the new world record holder for the longest live radio show. This show has been the first time ever that i have actually wanted to listen to Radio 1.

Thanks for your comprehensive reply Christopher. I think i understand where you are coming from now.

It does seem that this is the commercial sectors solution to trying to steel some share from BBC Radio 1 and 2 - especially Radio 2.

I am definately a great supporter of the BBC , despite being a life long supporter of commercial , and of course pirate and offshore radio as well.

 Whilst radio 2 has a huge listenership, the playlist is a joke. The likes of Wogan, Bruce et al, (old blokes after all) playing hip and trendy music is riduculous.

I would not knock Mike for having a go if he can do it. Since they can never be on national fm as there is stupidly only one national FM network in the UK then being on DAB is the next best thing.

Yeah a well known Luxy jock tried to listen and got the same - can you get Deezer?

Whilst we deleted all of his material from the playlist it's kind of tough.

The thing is Garry's version of RNI is all well and good and I like it occasionally but after 30 minutes I've had my dose and that's it for another week.

i tend to agree that if the listeners like Chris moyles then it's fine him being on what is generally regarded as a youth radio station.a couple of the others on there are close to his age as well.

In my humble opinion Big L is trying to be different, and to a certain extent it's succeeding.

I'll have to take your word about how older people think – personally I say I want this music and I play it on my MP3 or computer.

So many things to be said about this with regard to auto broadcasting, apart from it being for robots, which is what government and advertisers want us all to become anyway.

The mp3 player has the advantage in that its extended choice is usually all stuffed into it by its user in the first place. The probability of the user liking what's inside is therefore greater.
