 Well, what I was trying to say, after you said there was little decent music from that era, was that *I* had my own very different opinion.

It was all "pop" when I was a kid and it's still the tag I most prefer to use. I mean, what's wrong with "popular music"/​"pop" as a tag.

It's not really visual for me, I and others I know don't really watch music videos, I think that watching a visual interpretation of the music, draws your attention to the pictures, instead of what...

Good for you, but how on earth did 'music broadcasting' ever become a degree subject?

Well, in a greater sense, yes, there is no point in buying any music, especially when it's legally free.

 Well, all I can say is how I see it. Recognise that I was still at primary school in the 50s, but let's start by looking at the music of the time.

Hmmm. The point is that the stuff that (say) Radio 1 or Radio 2 are doing isn't 'risky' as such.

This is part of a wider issue as to why we pigeon hole things and particularly music. When in reality the question is do you like music?

Is PRS killing music ? In a word – YES ! This is one organisation that really winds me up and even a mention of them sets me off on a rant.

It’s going to be inevitable that some people won’t like the name initially. We tried loads of names – we had so many good suggestions many from listeners and site visitors.

 Thanks Eric I'd never heard the Gary Byrd track but having heard a 30 second clip on allmusic.com I can quite safely say, if I don't hear it again in my lifetime it won't be a moment too soon.

I'll have to take your word about how older people think – personally I say I want this music and I play it on my MP3 or computer.

I can't believe there are many who claim to have heard every popular chart Top 50 music track single over the passed 40 years and even so their music taste has probably changed quite considerably...
