Just how much of a risk is Microsoft taking with Windows 8? The answer: a pretty big one.

Then we take it you just dony like windows or even Microsoft. Maybe your a Linux person ? I qite like Linux up to a point but the trouble is its a bit like swimming agains the tide all the time.

Microsoft Silverlight is a web application framework with a scope similar to Adobe Flash.

I see where you are coming from Alan on this but i think Microsoft have to be concerned on this one. People do not generally like change – your right.

Microsoft gave me a copy of Windows 2000 when it was first released. It was supposed to be a 90 day trial but it never expired so I kept on using it. Better then 95 or the NT4 I was running before.

 But this is the story of Microsoft. Does it matter if there are already standards? Yes, if it's not one of theirs. As an example, we had already mp3, they had to have THEIRs, wma.

 If I gave the impression that I was some diehard Windows user then that's not quite accurate. PC Compatible user, yes!

It's been a year or so since i last had a play with a Linux distribution.

Many workplaces don't allow non Miscrosoft software to be installed on PC's as they say it's leliability and security is un-proven and some secure websites still insist on IE to gain access.

Microsoft proudly announced to the world in general a few years ago - at least 4 , that tablet computers with touch screens were going to replaced the laptop/​notebook computer. It never happened.

I agree that OSX would run well on less expensive Intel hardware and indeed it has been done.
