Is the Geoff Rogers here the same one that is on Radio Jackie?

Ronnie Rodent - The Mouse Mouse About Your House 10 June 2009 17:09

Who's who in the Anorak Nation swat lot?

Anorak Nation 25 October 2006 00:06

From time to time, as a bit of fun, imaginary 'housepoints' are issued to Anorak Nation contributors.

"Surely Geoff Rogers isn't your real name? and Jackie Frost isn't Jackie Frost's real name. Christopher England isn't Christopher England's real name. Steve West isn't Steve West's real name"

I'm sure the Philips V2000 was a video tape machine, (yep I'm right, just Googled it). Also if I remember correctly, you were able to record on both sides of the tape, much like an audio C60 cassette.

Andy P 13 June 2009 15:15

Nah, must've been the Phillips 2000 (although I thought that was the laser-disk thingie), cos the betamax tape would've been far too wide, shirley?

Christopher England 13 June 2009 13:17

It will sound undistinguishable from a record. The record is obviously superior. And listening to Jackie online will not beat MW. I think some landbased pirate should relay it onMW, LW, or SW.

Thanx for that, Simon. I've just tried it (it's the first time I've heard jackie since the late 70s) and I agree, it's a (very little) bit thin.

Talking of stuff relating to Radio Jackie – the current version , has anyone else on here checked out their newly launched super high quality AAC stream ?

Simon Crees 11 June 2009 13:08

It is very rare for Chris to put out a factually inaccurate response. But he has! Geoff does not play 78s on his radio show he plays wax cylinders.

Graham Foy 11 June 2009 09:34

Talking of Tandys, that's reminded me that they, at one point were the only place to buy reel to reel tape from and when they stopped selling it we had to rip the tape out of Betamax cassettes to...

Of course they do 227 meters every Sunday. Get your Daddy to tune his car radio into them the next time you visit the southern London area. Andy :o)

Andy P 10 June 2009 20:39

I got an email on some yahoo groups about Jackie, talking about original pirates who are still on Jackie. by the way, do Jackie have a MW frequency?

Ok, ok. Look, it's like this: N95. Period. Buy it. In an ideal world you should go for the N97, but it's brand new and very very expensive. It's a kind of very nicely upgraded much higher spec'd N95.

All this Frinton Flashing makes me think that Radio Jackie should send someone with a mike up to the transmitter site on top of Tolworth Tower and get people to flash from Epsom Downs....
