Thats because S4C is a channel for Wales from Channel 4 , not the BBC, so carrys advertising to pay the bills the same as Channel 4 itself.

I have similar experiences travelling around.

It might sound harsh but i think this is the best thing that could have happened. I can see no point at all in starting a second national multiplex using the hopelessly outdated DAB format.
