The CFA performance is always a little worst than the reference monopole in gain and bandwidth.

I have to declare an interest in that, in the past, I have acted as an expert witness for a local authority and an individual in the IoM who were opposed to the new radio station.

So, here we go again. What is the great weirdness that surrounds the Isle of Man International Broadcasting PLC?

No it is a fake. If you look very closely, the '279' on the pointy end of the boat looks much sharper than the rest of the picture.

It is certainly more convincing than any other similar pictures we have been shown so far on the various websites. It is, I therefore conclude, real.

Wot no updates from the wonderful twitter.com about the exciting CFA ship and the IOMIB? I thought the RSS feeds to Anorak Nation had been quiet.

How many people care any more? I certainly don't – I used to, but even if the thing ever does come on the air I doubt I'll listen.

My minions tell me that RTL have bought a majority stake in IoMIB. RTL have decided that DRM via a CFA on 279 will provide far better coverage in the UK.

The aerial system proposed for 279 is known as a CFA, and is being /​ has been manufactured by KAT. Mysteriously, their website includes a plea for people to buy shares.

The whole idea of what is "radio" is fuzzy – to most, radio is RF emissions that carry some sort of modulation – or pulses.

Hrmmm... had this come from anyone but roy I'd dismiss it as a wind-up. So there's supposedly a vessel in mallorca running tests on 279 LW, roy? I'll get John Dwyer in Ibiza to tune in to check.
