It does seem that advertisers are not interested in older listeners. Those who are fifty plus are very brand loyal and present no challenge for advertisers.

I suppose a lot has to do with ratings. Whereas the commercial stations need to have everybody remember the name of the station they were listening to and obviously the strapline helps.
