Sky Sheep

Sky has released an update to its Sky+ app, allowing an Apple iPad to be used as a remote control for the Sky+ HD box. Users can change channels directly from the grid guide, and pause, play and rewind programmes with a single tap or swipe of the screen. The app significantly transforms the overall user experience for those with an iPad and a compatible Sky+ HD box.

I love this app I use it all the time now. barrr, barrr, barrr ;)
I don't have Sky and i don't own any Apple products. Do i feel left out ? No , not really. I just don't get enough time to watch enough TV to make it worthwhile subscribing to to Sky TV and i think that Apple products are very over priced compared to similar products by other manufacturers that have better functionality. So , i'm definately not a Sky sheep ! LOL.
I love using my Azus Transformer as a tablet to watch TV, and I can do the same on my HTC phone even using a VPN to my home server. Who needs Apple - I'm still concerned they haven't releases the iToones National Anthem yet @ 99c.

all the time...
We have a couple of 7" tabs in the house - an Archos 70b2 and a Samsung Galaxy P1000 with 3G. It's a very convenient size - just about pocketable and great fun. Incredibly useful for err... "consuming" media, messaging, or just generally playing around. We're close to having a fully functional device that you can take anywhere and is always online.

Surely this is just 'app-ifying' a function that's been available 'forever' via the website? I guess it's for those who can't work out how to see the internet via their iToys.

You are free of mind and should be congratulated.
In contrast, I do have Sky+, and yet, as a household (well, there's just two of us and two cats) we don't watch an awful lot. We watch things the old fashioned way, selectively and, usually, having previously 'recorded' them in advance. We never watch any soaps, and rarely watch gameshows, X Factor, yadayadayada. In lots of ways, paying for Sky+ is a stupid waste of money, but we have it there 'just in case'.
There are some weeks when the TV just doesn't get switched on at all.
I'm not sure why, but we slowly evolved to being far too busy doing other stuff instead of watching TV. Just blindly watching TV for hours and hours seems to rot the mind, imho.
Quicky - training day today, will share when students gone - well when I get home :-)

Which Transformer do you have Eric? I'm tempted, but they keep
releasing new versions

I find handcuffs and rope and then leaving the tv remote just out of reach helps.
