Not even the great and wonderful Christopher England does such a thing these days. Time is so limited, you know. So busy learning maths.

Are you reading http://www.christopherengland.com or the old and no longer used Jiglu space?
I have given it a miss for several months with all of that anti-Israeli stuff.
Not good for my blood pressure.

Don't think I've put much in since then! It wasn't specifically anti-Israeli. It was anti the holocaust in Gaza. In some other respects I'm pro-Israeli.

It's not a proper shaped football!

I haven't heard of it for ages, didn't it close down soon after the war ? I remember posting some stuff about how you should say "2000" (continuing a discussion on MNO about the coming 21st century), but even then, Christopher was usually too busy with other sh...things to be bothered with it.

I keep wondering when people are finally drop this ridiculous need to refer to the word "thousand" in the year. I correctly pointed out ...er, 7 or 8 years ago... that the year "2000" should be pronounced "Twenty Hundred", just as "1900" had been pronounced "Nineteen Hundred". The year "1000" is pronounced "Ten Hundred", so why is "2000" pronounced "Two Thousand"? "1066" is pronounced "Ten Sixty Six", so logically "2066" should be "Twenty Sixty Six".
Bored yet?
Indeed, "1901" is pronounced "Nineteen-Oh-One", and so "2001" should be "Twenty-Oh-One". I have had to endure people calling the current year "Two Thousand And Nine" which is longer to say than "Twenty-Oh-Nine", so I'm hopeful that people will stop this 'thousand' silliness from next year and finally slip in to "Twenty Ten" rather than "Two Thousand and Ten".
And don't get me started on this country's inability to drop the pointless imperial measurements in favour of the far more logical metric system. It's like living in some third world country, I tell you.

That's true, but it shouldn't be. "Oh (o)" isn't a number, is it ? Are you going to start saying "twenty zero nine", or even worse, "twenty nought nine" ?
You'll probably try to wriggle out of it, but you're WRONG, WRONG, WRONG.
