May I suggest you leave these notice boards alone for a while. Your reputation in Anorak circles has been shot to bits. The Offshore project you failed to deliver has inevitably handed your critics a stick to hit you with. May I suggest you either find a new project to put your efforts into, forget the Offshore stuff as the world has moved on. The only appetite for Offshore Radio comes from the limited Anoraks on these boards and is not worth wasting £30000 and probably considerable more on proving an unwinnable argument.

As for your determination to be a thorn in the side to Peter Moore and his version of Caroline, I see no point in this as all you are doing is upsetting a few hundred anoraks that want access to the last piece of floating Offshore Radio history, why don't you allow the Ross to have some dignity in her retirement like the Belfast and if a few ageing hippies and squatters want to pass their spare time on doing up a rusty boat then so be it.

This is friendly advice from some one who does not know you, but can see no reason for seeing somebody who is negatively wasting their life time on the planet,

We're not used to aggression, preferring instead more civilized discussion as our way of dealing with differing interests. In great defence of Garry Stevens, I don't think he will have banned you. The moderators of any boards on the internet these days have a constant uphill battle to try to keep them 'open' and yet deal with those who want to bully and make personal attacks.

Very sadly, Garry's board keeps being overrun by the haters who seem to think that they must make personal slurs or remarks rather than enter into actual debate or discussion about 'things' rather than people. I know that Garry spends a lot of time trimming threads and trying to chop out all the bad bits. Garry is a good guy, not a censor, and as long as posters keep to the simple rules of being nice to each other then there's no problem. On a good day his board is a pleasure to read with many interesting contributions (some boring ones too, but that's true of anywhere!) for a wide range of anoraks with a wide range of experiences. Part of the attraction of Garry's board is that it is 'open' with no requirement to register and log-in (well, let's face it most old anoraks can only just about use a keyboard so expecting them to log-in somewhere is far too much! :-) ).

However, there are obsessives who seem to feel that they have to resort to the name calling and bullying. These are on both sides of the Radio Caroline fence, so it's not all just one way, although by far the most cruel are the Caroline obsessives. One reason for disrupting a thread is of course in order to close it so that the public don't get to read facts that are maybe unsavoury and could bring organisations into question or under the microscope. That's why as soon as anybody dares mention certain truths about Radio Caroline, out come the aggressive (or in some cases derisive) postings in order to disrupt the discussion and to distract from the facts of any actual points being made. It's a bit like daring to question the Scientologists even slightly. Immediately they make it personal and viciously attack the individual asking the questions.

Sadly, these obsessives can very quickly overrun Garry's board until he has time to try to calm things down. So, don't blame Garry, he's not on a 'side', he's just trying to deal with thugs in a playground. He's doing his best, like any moderators dealing with these increasingly bitter and twisted posters.

If you have a static ip address and he's really banned it, talk to him directly. He's not the enemy!

On a serious note, it is odd that Anorak Nation has a 'reputation' amongst the less aware anoraks as being an evil place. Yet if you read through the discussions it's all very lovely and fluffy. And mainly trivial (see next paragraph). It does not contain the bile and vitriol of the very places that are usually also where people are slagging it off from. Crazy, eh? I think it's one of those 'plots' by the obsessives that's worked. Apparently, if you say something at least six times then people will believe it rather than question it. I'd guess that's how the reputation was created by the obsessives and those who regularly use this technique to rubbish their opponents because they fear what facts might be revealed during the free debate and discussion that Anorak Nation encourages.

Richard when I tried to post late last night I found that my ip had been blocked I regained access by changing my ip something anyone can do at will if they know how.



Well, well,well, I have just tried to post on Garry's board only to find I have been banned!!!!......The reason for this ban? I revealed the truth behind a poster.

Garry likes to claim a site that is "free speech" and and "anti bullying" and decries anyone who hides behind a nom de plume to make cruel jibes. Imagine my surprise when I read a comment in the thread "cruisin'531" that broke those rules, and the give away, was certain spellings used in that comment.

I was shocked to realise the said contributor was none other than the forum owner using a nom de plume !!!! I dropped a subtle hint as to who the contributor was (no names mentioned) only to find my clues were somehow mistakenly read by the next contributor as refering to Neil posting under another name. I therefore claified my hint with another clearer clue (still no names mentioned). I posted under nom de plume, something I never do normally, because I wanted to highlight the hypocrisy of the owner and his forum. I returned today to say "it was me" and give my reasons for the post, only to find the posts have been removed, and I have been banned.

So to that "mystery" person, I say, come forward and say "Now is the time to be honest, it was me, it was a stupid crass thing to do, but in the heat of the moment I saw red and acted out of character"

Time for everyone to be honest...... So in my real name I sign off

I post there very rarely these days but do read quite often. What certain people don't seem to realise is that humans are not random, but are creatures of habit. It is quite funny reading through, where people are trying to hide their identity, but write in exactly the same style as their usual name. Very easy to spot.

Similarly, looking at the patterns of the times they post (and how drunk/stoned they are when they post – so easy to detect). The interesting thing is watching a person arguing with themselves as they try to be two different people with opposing views, sometimes accusing the other 'them' of being me or a similar innocent party. I'm not sure why they do that. Maybe it's supposed to be cleverly entertaining or maybe it's designed to fuel and stir up the hatred they seem to love to see so much of. And they wonder why their ex won't give them access to their children!



It is funny that I get banned for trying to reveal a name on the site, yet the same site has great pleasure in teasing out posts hinting at your real name Christopher, without so much as a whisper made to those posters, a case of one rule for them, another rule for the others.
