Quoting a previous Les Wires contribution:-

Not sure your meaning about bigL, but if it was on a more popular
platform I think it would be much more successful, probably me so please
let me know your thoughts.

Well, what I'm saying is that both research and testing, and all other methods of monitoring, tell us that non-anorak people are happier with small playlists and high rotation. Big L would have to mirror this secret to success.

As for ipods, fine if you want to re-listen to tracks you've heard many
times before, only radio (and concerts) will introduce you to new music.

Well, not necessarily true of course. People with no interest in new music will pick radio stations playing only music from one particular era, most usually operating a far tighter rotation than the average iPod.

Meanwhile, somebody interested in new music will keep filling their iPod with new music as it comes out and they see it on TV (which is the main place breaking new music these days as far as the masses are concerned) and then buying it.

If chosen carefully radio is probably the most essential part of your
music collection

Not until it has a skip button.
