In contrast, I do have Sky+, and yet, as a household (well, there's
just two of us and two cats) we don't watch an awful lot. We watch
things the old fashioned way, selectively and, usually, having
previously 'recorded' them in advance. We never watch any soaps,
and rarely watch gameshows, X Factor, yadayadayada. In lots of
ways, paying for Sky+ is a stupid waste of money, but we have it
there 'just in case'.

There are some weeks when the TV just doesn't get switched on at
all.

I'm not sure why, but we slowly evolved to being far too busy doing
other stuff instead of watching TV. Just blindly watching TV for
hours and hours seems to rot the mind, imho.
