Can you or anyone else recomend a type of phone ?-
I've had a quick look at a few sites and they all seem to offer really
helpful advice like ''The N95 8GB is a 3G handset running Symbian OS
version 9.2 with a Series 60 user interface, dedicated media keys,
multimedia menu and an active standby screen'' which... frankly....
means fuck all to me. For some reason, none of the phones I found were
advertising that you could get Arrow Classic Rock on them which is all
I'm really after at the end of the day.
However, the N95 will easily provide you with anywhere-you-like listening to Arrow Classic Rock. I have just selected it on mine. I wouldn't normally listen to oldies you understand so I'm highly medicated to avoid any dangerous reaction, but as I type this my phone has a large logo on screen saying "Arrow Classic Rock" and a scrolling ticker saying "*** Classic Rock 70s 80s ***" and the speaker is spewing out Robert Palmer's Every Kind of People.
So, the very short answer is yes, you can get Arrow Classic Rock (in high quality), plus any of about 200 other stations originating from the Netherlands, including Radio Seagull.
The longer answer is that you have to think of your phone as a computer. Instead of 'Windows XP / Vista' it uses 'Symbian OS'. Instead of a 'broadband' connection it uses a '3G' connection. Just like with broadband there are different price plans available for 3G service. There are pay as you go (ouch) or unlimited packages.
Then, like with a real computer where you have to do a one-time download of your favourite media player (like 'Winamp'), there are 'players' you can download to your phone, all depending on how anoraky you want to be.
Once you have that done then it's dead simple to just click on the player on your phone, scroll through the hundreds of words to the name of the station of your choice and press play. That's what I just did to force myself to listen to Arrow Classic Rock. (Do they really only have one 'jingle' and it just says "Arrow" and that's it?)
PS. If you are drunk and lost on your bike, the N95 also has an integrated Sat Nav. :-)
