Quoting a previous miamigorocks Geoff contribution:-
I find this whole project weird, like i
said why go to all the expense of buying another ship, and making it
"look like" an offshore station, when you've got one there doing nowt,
seems absolutely daft to me, what all your opinions on this, because i'm
curious.
Whilst there may be legal issues regarding ownership of the Ross Revenge, it's more likely split between Health and Safety issues and control of the 'set' and the cost of making good afterwards.
They may, for example, need to cut away parts of 'rooms' in order to mount the cameras and crew, all of which has to be done in accordance with really annoying and obstructive – erm, I meant, really well thought out and sensible – Health and Safety Laws which are the bane of the film maker's life. And making good after this on (say) the Ross might be impossible. So, all in, it could be cheaper to buy a ship and 'wreck it' with no need for any making good after the event.
