Actually I would interested in a response, yes or no, as to how many on
AN buy a newspaper every day?
Better late than never. Missed me? I was away locked in a room sorting out stuff in order to successfully buy GCap. I had to sell the Ross Revenge (which as you know belonged to me) to raise the cash we needed, but hey ho. At least we saved Planet Rock for all the old people here. But, hey, don't thank me too loudly guys. Next stop is City Talk so's I can get my 10pm show on air.
Anyways, back to your question. Sorry about the excited rambling.
I don't think I've bought a national paper for decades. However, I too, like others have mentioned, will pick-up the tabloidy ones up in cafes, train stations, etc. I'll flick through, not notice any breasts, and read all the made up news. I'm also a sucker for the publications aimed at women like 'Closer' and so on. I can't help but read the 'true stories' that always read a bit like they were written for the old Simon Bates 'Our Tune' feature (Anybody got an mp3 of the our Tune music I could, erm, borrow?). I don't shed a tear, honest, but you know, I certainly get in touch with my feminine side, honest.
Local papers on the other hand I have bought. I find them very useful when researching a geographical area, although very depressing because the only stories are about who's been mugged.
Newswise, I have a number of Twitter alerts feeding me news from Sky and the BBC, then go check out the details on line, or I randomly watch truthful services like Al Jazeera.
But, what's the point of a broadsheet (well, 'non-comic') style of newspaper these days? I don't get their purpose. The news in them is old, and rather than facts, they are filled with pompous arses giving their opinions on stuff.
Well, that's me and newsprint!
