I wonder if many people actually listen to Community Radio Stations?
Probably the relatives of the presenters.
We, Celtic Music Radio, have a community licence in Glasgow and employed the finest AM transmitter engineer in the country to ensure our equipment is up to scratch. Presently we have no real method of measuring the audience on our AM transmitter, we do know that there are real listeners out there.
However our webcast is a different matter, in the month of January 2008 we attracted over 10000 hits to our listen live facility, this month March 2008 we are heading towards 30000 hits on the listen live facility. Having checked the period of time a listener remains we find many remain there for over an hour , with a few tuning in every day for periods between 6 and 10 hours (not relatives, we know where they are but don’t think their US employers would like us to say where out loud)
The answer to the question is most defiantly YES, if they get the program content right for that community, we think that we have done that.
