I'm confused a little.

Ok, I've already stated many times my thoughts about the potential of anybody trying to re-launch an offshore radio station in these modern times. However, that doesn't stop me wishing the best of luck to anybody trying, and is why I have my fingers crossed for Neil Gates and hope that something comes of his plans.

With Neil re-lighting the spark of enthusiasm in genuine anoraks, there does now seem to be an even louder swinging away from Caroline Mattress and a desperate need for a return of the real Radio Caroline. I just had a good poke through http://www.carolineinternational.com and Neil's own discussion board. It's nice to see good debate and discussion with the minimum of trolling and destruction from the CMM (Caroline Mattress Mafia) who I expected to be shouting and screaming from their stairlifts by now.

The tide seems to have turned against Caroline Mattress because it's not being true to the station it copies. The fever and whispering and hope is for the return of the real Radio Caroline. To that end, there appears to be a music stream associated with the Caroline International website, and then that website points to Neil's discussion board. A good spirit of co-operation there between real believers in free radio.

And, the Caroline International website is not the first to mourn the passing of the real Radio Caroline, nor to predict that one day it would return. Indeed, if you look at the long standing French site http://www.radio-caroline.eu the authors there, speaking on behalf of Ronan O'Rahilly, tell of how a new boat would be needed to help Caroline continue.

(Incidentally, speaking of French stuff, have you ever listened to the Radio Caroline in Bretagne (Brittany), France? It has 6 different FM frequencies carrying it, and apart from the obligatory French music (by law), the music format is quite fresh and pleasant for old timers. http://www.radiocaroline.eu has a link to the stream.)

Anyway. Where was I? Oh yes, so to the confusion I mentioned: Is the new offshore station Neil is working on to be the return of Radio Caroline, or is (as I thought he said) his station going to be called something else? If his station is not Radio Caroline, then is there a potential return of Radio Caroline alongside Neil's new station?

These could be exciting times!
