Don't start me off, I've already had a go at them about this over on
DS. They've so far refused to respond to the now deleted thread or to
several PMs.

Maybe there are some legal reasons, not having seen it or even read any of it it's hard to comment on the specific thread.
However, if there was a heavy-weight taking action then that may indicate why they won't respond.
Mind you it might have been better to simply acknowledge your e-mail and say that they have taken advice and that advice is currently "No Comment". You might not approve, but it is a perfectly acceptable commercial answer and let's face it D.S. is a commercial operation which can decide what it does and when – the contributors are just that, contributors.
