Anybody know why this local station for the people of the Orkney's is
currently coming out of a box in someone's bedroom in Chatham in Kent?
It is quite disgusting isn't it. But at least they were playing lots of local Orkney music – erm, Dire Straits and Romeo and Juliet – when I listened for two minutes just now.
Let's hope that that band of locals manage to convince Ofcom that Orcadians deserve their own station, not some station put upon them by an outsider's commercial operation.
Did anybody read that condescending load of tripe written (by one of the Superstation owners) about how Orcadians weren't good enough to populate their own radio output, and that's why 'professionals' were being brought in instead? Indeed, he said that since a lot of tourists were North American that's why they employed North Americans as on air talent on the Superstation.
Since when was community radio aimed at tourist trade?
It's completely unacceptable that Ofcom are letting them get away with this rape and pillage!
