That would actually be very possible. They broadcast from Holland, but you could relay them from your house. Lots of pirates realy Radio Caroline. In Suffolk, there is 1395Khz MW, and 87.7 FM somewhere, 828Khz MW in Holland.
Good transmitter or studio sites for pirates:
-(both)festivals – studio in a caravan, transmitter in another one or the same caravan -(both)your own loft – you could have the transmitter in the loft, the antenna on the roof, and the studio in an upstairs room. -(antenna)telegraph pole or lampost – if someone invents a wireless antenna -(TX) The Houses of Parliament – where the authorities least expect it. -(studio) Underground
-(studio) some kind of open studio – there is one at the forum where you can 'have a go and see what its like doing a radio show' and take a microwave link with you -(wirless antenna) on top of a legal antenna
-(transmitter) put it inside the casing of a radio
-(both) inside a van or caravan/camper van
anyone think of any more that arent often used?

I only ever heard if one – from ireland on 254khz before atlantic 252 started – think it might have been Radio Nova. I could just about make out the signal . Long wave for pirates is not very practical due to needing a massive antenna to radiate anything remotely efficiently – hundreds of feet high.
Well ,among the more daring that i have heard of recently (and seen) is placing a pirate FM transmitter and antenna (with a UHF link receiver) on a mobile phone tower.I have heard but cannot confirm that they screwed self tapping screws into the power cables to steel power ! It is one of the larger ones next to a major trunk road near where i live in North Essex and put out a signal strong enough to cover the whole county and beyond. The station concerned has been using another existing transmission site tower but is currently off air since last weekend – presumably got busted but are guarenteed to be back soon.

No, you don't totally understand. Most of the time Radio Seagull actually does come from my front room. It's a fact, not a muse.

Peter is one of the nicest people around and for sure I wouldn't want to upset him in any way. However, I'm sorry an AM station becoming a success story and/or even starting these days just doesn't make sense to me, not even if the shareholder(s) had very big cheque books.
Even FM stations are dying all over the place due to a lack of ads and as always I can't see agencies rushing to advertise on AM.
But hey you never know in radio.
Eric
The 208 DJ Peter Anthony is back doing radio again after years of being away.
Catch him on Replay Radio – very 208 esque jingles from ex Luxy guys Mike Knight and Rosko as well. And some geezer uses Station Of The Stars jingles as well :-)

Waits for the flack – not it's not my station it is the brain child of young Paul.

Unconfirmed rumours that Neil was physically attacked and put out of action by Caroline Obsessives a few days ago. Scary if it's true.

But since you didnt
hae a mixing desk at the transmitter end, you coudln't have done this.
Yeah, but why would anybody in the right mind up a mixing desk at the transmitter end. It's just more equipment that will be seized by the authorities or rivals. Ideally, you want as little as possible with the transmitter. Sometimes it's not even worth putting the transmitter gear in boxes, let alone leaving it sitting there alongside a mixer.

If we can't use a boat (cos of costs for
fuel) we could always broadcast from one one the forts. How about Knock
John? I think thats still there.
The fuel's not for the boat. It's for the generator that's providing the electricity for the transmitter. Wherever you are based you need to provide power for the transmitter, and that's what costs.

Pah! 7 minutes of Channel Four's output once came from an APPLE MAC, yes, APPLE MAC in my reception area! Nur nur.
(Hmmm. Thinks. May have opened accidental can of worms by mentioning the APPLE MAC words.)

It was 45 years ago today Thursday 2nd July 1964 that Project Atlanta and
Caroline merged operations to form Caroline South and North respectively.
If they knew then what we know now, I wonder if they'd have bothered! :)

Very scary if its true and totally unacceptable ! Lets hope its not true.
I think that even the Caroline Obsessives have got better things to do than waste their time doing something as sensible as that!!

So attacking somebody physically is 'sensible'? This must be an aspect of 'Loving Awareness' that passed me by!
