........East kents only really meaningful AM pirate station Channel Radio that operated in the Dover area until being busted at thier latest tx site at Crabble Football ground, at Dover, during 1978.I'd be interested to know if anyone has any info or links regarding Channel Radio.
I used to be able to receive Channel Radio quite well in Folkestone. I have at least one very short recording on cassette tape stuffed away somewhere where Eddie Austin announces "Channel for kicks in '76". Eddie later went on to run a couple of RSL stations, namely Shepway Sound in Folkestone and White Cliffs Sound in Dover, which were the forerunners of ILR station Neptune Radio, now known as KMFM and owned by the Kent Messenger Group.
Listening between 9 and 9.30pm just now I can hear Energy Power AM from Ireland with a weak but audible signal on 1395 kHz. As for Trans World Radio from Albania, I know that thing drifts a bit but I was gobsmacked to hear it up on 1411.1 kHz broadcasting away and causing a heterodyne with 1413 kHz. What a mess!
