21 years of WNKR this weekend the 23rd to 25th of August, on 147621st Birthday party all Bank holiday weekend on 1476
and around the world in stereo on the internet.
Congrats to all at WNKR, It is great to see you are still keeping the Free Radio flag flying every week,
I was listening last weekend and heard the announcement about the return to 1476, I must admit it did surprise me a bit as 1395 is a much clearer channel and i thought you would have stayed on there for the time being but perhaps 1476 gets out better with the current antenna setup?

Hi Nico
I guess if Radio Atlantis is well remembered in the Netherlands it may well work, they say previous offshore radio programming was popular.
And I guess issuing the press information in Dutch only suggests that the station is only interested in attracting a local audience, is that right??

Eric

Thanks Richard, funnily enough 1395 isn't as clear as you might think, there a 2 stations either side which create a funny mix that makes a warbling noise on 1395 when you get a bit further away than you are. We suddenly remembered that was why we moved to 1476 in the first place.
As for getting out the signal seemed about the same on 1395 as 1476, we did have to increase the vertical by 4 metres or so though.I can confirm that we have only been running 17 watts max into the aerial while running off 12 volts!! Hoping to increase that soon but not at the risk of upsetting the good audio we have.

Best Eric. Because they used an English service I guess that Radio Atlantis would had also an English audience. But I don't know if there ware also English languaged commercials especially for the English listeners to be heard on Radio Atlantis. Nico.

Hi Nico,
It is interesting to note that due to the lack of English ad's on Atlantis's English service;some quite elaborate 'spoof'(false) ads were heard, which then kept the expected listener form of offshore style radio, but equally added humour into the programming.Steve and Debbie England,Eddie Austin produced some of them. They later produced quite professional 'sold' commercials (1975–1978?) on East kents only really meaningful AM pirate station Channel Radio that operated in the Dover area until being busted at thier latest tx site at Crabble Football ground, at Dover, during 1978.I'd be interested to know if anyone has any info or links regarding Channel Radio. I also recall hearing a pirate station Radio Atlantis (98.2mhz FM?) that broadcast with a cracking FM stereo signal across Rotterdam during 1982.Was there any link to the offshore station? If not mistaken, I'm sure I remember hearing Will Luikingha (ex Veronica) and Stan Haag on this 24/7 pirate. Regards,
Jim.
