Bloody hell! He resurfaced as I typed that!!

Only for a short while, mind.

I do normally check and speed-read contributions here every three or four days even if I'm saying nowt, so if ever you really need me or to tap into my highly crafted opinion or great and vast knowledge of the real truth behind the offshore radio lies, just shine the bat searchlight up into the sky and I'll reply.

In case everyone had forgotten about the Fate of08,

here it is,http://www.thefateof08.com/

It appears to be a promo for a new staion in Bedfordshire, I think. :-)

Nah, it's PureTonic, the jingle and beds company, doing a bit of viral marketing before what is really just a bit of boring re-launch of their website and services. They do nice music though.

Chris are you losing your satirical sense of humour?

I thought that radio Beds would make a nice name for a alternative staion in the bedfordshire area!

As for pure tonic, I prefer gin and lemon with mine!

Damnit. Caught me unawares with your great wit. I'll stand here humiliated and ashamed at my failure. Heh heh. I blame lack of sleep and this being the first bit of shore leave I've had in a good while. And, I've totally forgotten how to speak English, let alone write it.

As for what you can get on DAB that you can't get on AM or FM, there's
one heck of a lot. Then when you include the 'other' digital platforms
the choice becomes phenominal.

Not around here you can't. If you like the birdsong loop or 24 hour East Anglian Traffic News – you're onto a winner. (Why do they have a Traffic news station on DAB by the way, when no-one in a car can hear them?!) Other than that there's not a great deal to be had here in the wild Cambs / Suffolk border country.

I listen to BBC7 sometimes on DAB which I admit can be great (although it's all repeats of stuff I've heard before on R4), but that's about it. The magic high pressure god sometimes brings stuff like LBC our way, or KERRANG! or, bizzarely BBC Radio Shropshire, but not very often.

Out of interest, I can listen to Play Radio in the car, walking down the
street, or in my house.

On what though? If it's a mobile then it probably cost a fortune and I'm sorry, I'm not walking down the street tied to a bloomin' laptop! Aside from the nostalgic element mentioned in a previous post- I'd be happy to use something other than a transistor set, but nothing I've found so far compares in terms of station choice, cost and portability.

Regards,
Giles.

Hello everyone. WKNR is now indeed to hear on BigL's 1395 kHz AM frequency! Read the tape in the upperright corner on http://1476.co.nr/

Not really. I've got unlimited 3G access for a fiver a month which means I can listen to anything I want whenever I want, as a by-product of having always-on internet access. The only enemy is battery power which goes down quite fast I notice if I stream (or use the Satnav!) for too long not plugged into an adapter / charger.

I agree with him. My Twitter usage is restricted to news and information feeds, say from the BBC, etc. As in, using Twitter as a quick converter of RSS feeds into free texts.

I used to 'follow' quite a few of the more notable radio movers and shakers until I realised that all they ever keep telling everybody is how much they drink beer. Boring.

The place that's really kicking off as being 'conversational' in the micro-blogging world is www.plurk.com – the heaviest user on there is a women in her 60s who is a knitting anorak. Lots of ladies talking about diets and cooking, and notably most folk are not kids, and there are most of the movers and shakers in the Web 2.0 world.

Here's a brilliant one for somebody here who's bored to stick a poll about pirate radio onto. Anybody? Sign up to www.ask500people.com – you pose a question, and people vote on your options for the answers. Maybe somebody should do a Caroline versus Big L question.

And finally, for fun, here's a free service www.dial2do.com -which is brilliant. Basically, once it's set up, you call a London number from your mobile. You record a text message using your voice, a voice recognition system translates your voice into actual text and then sends it to whoever. Saves all that fiddling around with buttons trying to type it out. Funny results for some words though!

See? I come here bearing presents and toys for boys to try out.

Oh, and to complete the circle of this conversation, you can even use dial2do to update Twitter!
