Thank you Terry and Mike

I have studied your postings and the links in detail.

Sadly, I don't think I can justify to the family spending £200 plus on headphones.

But you have both convinced me that nothing cheaper will do the job.

Interesting comments. Thank you all.

I have never been clear about the business models.

Presumably, on the expenditure side by the equation amny workers and suppliers were unpaid.

On the revenue side of the equations, presumably that was income other than advertising, airtime, and missionary income.

Did Meister and Bollier set out as hobby pirates or was the venture purely commercial?

IIRC, Meister and Bollier were involved as the telecomms guys brought in for a project setting up Big L's "Galaxy" as a German offshore station (but I don't know for whom). Then the German government passed their own Marine Offences Act and the original backers got cold feet and pulled out. The impression I got was that M&B realised money could be made so they set up their own station, originally the Mebo I until they found that was too small and then they converted the Mebo 2. But if that's what did happen then RNI 1970 wasn't exactly well planned from an advertising viewpoint - which is where the rumours started of the station being Stasi-funded. When RNI came back in 1971, they had the Dutch Basart company leasing the station.

Hallo everyone. Now are the last downloads-hours of Red Sands Radio uploaded on my earlier mentioned link. But who of you has made downloads of Thurday 3 July of the test-transmissions of Red Sands Radio? If yes, please place it here in this thread! Greetings of Nico from Gouda, the Netherlands.
