The question is, will traditional " radio" stations be able to

The content should be the important thing!
Dave.
No reason why not Dave and if, as I suspect will happen, a return path is made available it will clearly define what a driver is listening to and for how long.
So with better digital research the truth about radio listening should be greatly improved and the sponsors will really know how much bang they get for there bucks.

What song would you have?
Here are the 12 most requested songs:

With my strange sense of humour and being a Queen fan I would go for Another One Bites The Dust!
My fave hymn is Abide With Me, Cup final day and all that!
"Radio Times" by Henry Hall would be ideal.
That man on RTI who can talk and talk and talk about any old rubbish (not Eric!) makes for very strange listening. He wouldn't win a prize against the "Just a Minute" rules, but he certainly has an ability to waffle aimlessly.
Now I wonder: does he pay for his time, does he get paid for his time, or does he do it for free?

Correct young Sir. I consider Chris to be Marmite Radio – you love him or don't and it's a shame more stations don't have the balls to air Marmite shows.
Chris has a good following in SK and Poland – not to mention other areas of the world.
So we like Chris

Greetings of Nico from Gouda, the Netherlands.
Plugged in my MD machine today, managed to find an off-air recording of Big L's 1997 RSL broadcast. This clip is from 14th August and covers 5:30–6:30pm when Roger Day and Ray Anderson were presenting.
It's obviously a low-quality file (being off AM) – and I've also given it an anti-pop/click cycle.
I have more on tape somewhere in the loft... but for now: Enjoy ;)
Regards,

Oh yes, Chris Readon! But I couldn't hate him.
I think many people would be comfortable talking about pet subjects. For instance, whilst I was studying for my MBA a senior lecturer at Warwick (who drank pints in the era when ladies didn't drink pints) could speak for hours about statistics in the pub. She couldn't talk about anything else but she could talk for hours about statistics.
Others have an ability, like Johanne Maasbach, to talk about God and Hell and perishing.
But Chris strikes me as being a little like Mr Memory: "Tell me about the thirty nine steps".
When Chris stands on the stage, a member of the audience shouts, "Chris, tell me about plastercine" and Chris instantly starts talking for an hour about plastercine. "Tell me Chris about corks", "Tell me Chris about global warming", "Tell me Chris about paper clips".
I'll give this to Chris: some modern radio announcers can interact well with an audience, but Chris seems to have an infinite ability to talk without interaction.
I bet he wasn't very good at precis at school.
"Tell me Chris about precis, you have 60 minutes starting now".
Many thanks for the links, Nico. Just what I was looking for!
