Another station on 1278 in Ilford!!!!
Yes saw that plus the suggestion that it may being used as a spoiler to make sure Red Sands Radio doesn't get out much beyond its target area in some directions as with Traffic Radio last year,
It does bring up another question, When a station applies for a RSL licence, Do they ask to be on AM of FM or is it up to Ofcom?
Richard
Ofcom today announces the award of three new community radio licences.
http://www.ofcom.org.uk/media/news/2008/06/nr_20080627b
Separately, Ofcom has updated the timetable for inviting community radio licence applications.
We intend to invite applications for the east and southeast of England, excluding the Greater London area, at the end of August 2008. We will update this timetable with dates for Greater London (within the M25) in due course.
http://www.ofcom.org.uk/radio/ifi/rbl/commun_radio/tlproc/
In addition, Ofcom also announced the grant awards from the first round of funding from the Community Radio Fund 2008/09. In total *£266,600* has been awarded to 18 applicants.
The Fund has been established to help fund the core costs of running a community radio station.
The full document is available at:

Finally, Ofcom is also publishing guidelines for community radio stations that wish to use volunteer time as part of station turnover.

Now I'm torn, after a week of trying FF3 I'm still not sure.
The latest rev of IE is nice, but both seem to be winners in certain ways. I notice IE is more at home in FaceBook and FF3 doesn't seem as comfortable. What have others found.
BTW, yes I have Opera but only for testing web pages, doesn't fit what I want, or just doesn't feel that it does.

You can request it according to your budget. AM is a fraction of the FM license costs but then the equipment for AM is much more expensive so it all adds up to around the same costs at the end of the day. Easy cash for OFCOM! Their spoiling tactics of awarding the frequency twice in close areas is a scandalous! OFCOM seems full of pot plants who love to make it difficult for those willing to pay and make a legal broadcast whilst their pathetic attempts to close the Drug Cartel run pirate stations is nothing more than a weedy / cowardly effort.
I bet any money that if armed with DF'ing equipment and riot outfits, a group of Girl Guides could close down all, if not most, of the FM 'Drug / Gun Crazed' stations in London over a period of 3-4 days. Funny isn't it, GBP50,000 a month was spent on spying on Caroline / Laser but today they can't even tackle drug run stations on their own doorstep let alone at sea.
If a ship was to sail into the north sea armed with a 50kW transmitter today, OFCOM would pile sh*t loads of tax payers cash to 'survey' it and would probably draw anti-terror laws to make it that much more 'spicey'. In contrast, you could set up a drug run FM station on the roof of the OFCOM offices and they would probably sh*t themselves in case of being accused of racism if they dared target it. The drugFM pirates so far targetted are just the small fry. I'd love to see how they handle the Yardies and Gun toting real 'BooomberClot SoundZ' Stations.
Ohhhhhh, I've done it again, gone right off topic, sorry, I've filled my bag up now whilst posing my rant.

At first I thought you we're talking about an item of clothing and was posing the question "does my bum look big in this?" Now I get it, I use IE and find it does everything I want, FF still gives problems with my online banking site so I avoid it.
So in conclusion, IE fits more comfortable than FF and my bum don't look so big.
I use IE, because I'm worth it!

Hmmm, my Chairman said something the other day – along the lines of we have this new guy in the Head Office and you'll understand everything he says because he talks in net speak :-)

So it's not me then – thank goodness for that, after being a FF anorak for ages I thought I may have to be beaten at dawn and my FF anorak stomped on by a man wearing a suit who speaks in funny words that my PC can't speeeaaallll

I just had to flicked over the LBC today to have a listen to those nasal tones of Ken Livingstoned. What a pillock, its quite obvious the producers at LBC are biggin' up the tw*t letting in the friendly callers to Red Ken first off. Are LBC listeners really being subjected to this twaddle all week?
Why doesn't Ken just get over it, he was a crap mayor, he is trying to follow on in George Galloways footsteps and become a crap broadcaster. Politicians don't become great or even fair broadcasters. We have the Mad Scotsman celebrating all things radical and extreme on TalkSh*t and now Red Ken trying to convince londoners we got it all wrong on LBC. Crap! utter Crap! is this the next move on from recruiting celebs to host radio shows?, are we now going to be subjected to failed politicians next?

I heard that Boris found 39 bottles of fine wine and 49 bottles of nasal decongestant in Ken's old mayoral office.
The decision to put Ken on LBC is of course that of Jonathan Richards, and is among many of the bad ideas he has had since taking up the position.
Ken is sounding terrible even though he has done programmes (jointly with others) on LBC before. He does not have a radio voice, and is a has-been now with no political power which makes him much less interesting to talk to. Yeah, we could call up and have a shout-up with him but that would make his show seem more interesting and I think folks can't be bothered.

I listened for about 15 mins and agree with everything you said.
Radio is not the day job for Ken, but I'm sure those in power will be enjoying every column inch of free PR for the station.

Frankly I listen to LBC a lot from my bunker here at Melbourne and had to turn it off as it got just a bit too much even for my ears.
LBC is great but sometimes the repetitive nature of things gets a bit tedious and those ads for Women to check their boobs, that ad for cucumber man, that ad that says to sell what I think it's some kind of life insurance endowment. It seems like they have only 4 or 5 advertisers that play the ads over and over and over .. There ain't no variety in the ads .. But having said all that, LBC is great.

LOL - I believe the bit about the wine most definately

How does this guy keep his job? Who the hell is he?

Ten minutes of listening to this tw*t was enough for me. It just seems a platform for him to defend his loss and explain his love for Mr.Jasper and to ease the allegations that both are complete fraudsters. I could give you some nice stories about Ken's drink / drug / sex fuelled parties whilst reigning high at the former GLC and parties that we're actually held there. He is a disgusting, filthy, perverted pr*ck. Without his ethnic flag wavers and liberal minded 'doo gooders' he is nothing.

You are right about the PR of course, hopefully they will just milk that and then drop the idea of giving Ken any kind of regular slot.
Dominik Diamond and Marisa De Andrade are on Talk 107 from 2 to 6 pm UK time, I wonder if you (and others) have given them a try? They have an excellent on-air chemistry and do an entertaining show. www.talk107.co.uk
By the way, what time is Chris Reardon's (sp?) talk show on? Is it not currently available on the RTI stream? Or any other stream? I believe he has a podcast page on libsyn but I prefer a live stream rather than having to download. Does he take calls or have guests or do monologues or what? Does he actually do it live or is it always pre-recorded anyway?

Re: Livingstone Broadcasting CompanyThanks for that, I get the picture.
You know, what amazes me reading the article in the link is how Livingstone (who, let's face it, is a pretty shrewd political operator) just doesn't realise that his actions (or lack of, in the case of the funding controversy) lead to accusations of croneyism. Or maybe he just doesn't care. In which case, he ain't that smart.
In today's meedja driven world, "how things look" matters more than "how they actiually are" and internal investigations, no matter how thorough. leave themselves wide open.

Yes, he is a colourful character to say the least. The way he has used NuLabour to influence his position then distance himself when he lost the last Mayoral elections proves his worth. He is a dispicable specimen that florishes amongst his liberal minded cronies. He is just another Anti-English campaigner who has come unstuck, as is the current Government. Although not a supporter, I can clearly see how the BNP is becoming the fastest growing party in the UK, before we know it this country will become a tinder box and moving to the exteme right. Those that poo poo that will soon learn that forgetting and scrubbing out our own culture will squeeze us all too far. The English take ages to blow their corks, but its inevitable and bound to happen in the not to distant future. People like Ken have been instrumental in squeezing us all all and making ethnic policy top priority. On top of that, playing on the 'Green' policies this Government magically find the cash for, he is just another jumping on the green bandwagon that has been put in place to squeeze us even more. The pathetic 'Low Emissions Zone' signs around here make me laugh, they have even been placed in cul-de-sacs. What do people do, stop using their cars once driving into a 'Low Emissions Zone'? This is another Livingstone legacy we've all been left with. Add to that the friggin Olympics, Ken has left his mark all right. I've just bought a car with a much bigger engine I used to have, I burn carbon emitting rubbish on my bonfire, I rufuse to recyclye as past methods such as milk bottles was much more effective than todays cartons / plastic cartons, I don't switch my tv off from stand by at night, I don't buy Organic shi*t - only fools spend the exra cash for something no different to what you'd normally buy, I buy cheap clothes manufactured for a of bowl of rice in India and I use supermarket carrier bags where I can without paying for them. If they want me to pay I just leave all the shopping at the counter and walk out.
I can't stand liberal minded fools, I no longer tolerate them. I'm not left / right or centre wing, I am the Guff!
I am the non-conformist who rebels against this pathetic nanny state!
By God I'm so hard!!!!
