Not that I can see.
Testing testing.
Maybe everybody's out enjoying their radio in the sunshine. :-)

For my part I've been a tad busy and about to become busy again in 55 mins – a not so shameless plug for my show :-)

O h well they have all left the planet, are we doomed Christopher.
May well be that they have used up their allocation of time with our most recent thread, a most enjoyable one though with a dreadful subject
I think everyone has bottled it and stayed tuned to Britain's got talent or coro because it makes them feel safe. They are scared the Nanny State is listening to their opinions and a black van will come round and whisk them off dare they speak out. Other than that they are all probably entirely happy with the situation and couldn't give a toss as long as they can still put petrol in the Golf, Mondeo, Focus or BM and watch the wallpaper dreamed up by good old 'Big Pants' Simon Cowell & Co. (I still think Christopher has a hand in this splendid TV nonsense they want us to watch. I bet his in Simon's Think Tank room as I type)
The Guff (Awwww Yeahhhhhhhhhhhh! East Enders has started, gotta go! - wheres the tissues)

It was a very interesting conversation. The good thing about Anorak Nation is that we know how to natter here without being spiteful, nasty or obsessive.
Anyway, I suspect others here are like me in being thankful to Alan for sharing so much about his mother's experiences and his journey to 'see for himself'. His understanding and explanations were compelling. Thanks, mate!
Lightening things just a bit, and moving back to the chronicling of radio's history, what would be the best way to keep it real? They say to never let the truth get in the way of a good story, but would there be a way of writing it all down without it being 'enhanced' for consumption, and yet it not be really really boring?
I mean, was offshore radio actually really really boring, but we just like to think of it as having not been because we are caught up in the embellished stories or our imagination runs wild?
Or was / is it still exciting and fun even when you just stick to the truth of what really happened and when?

I've got a very long black(ish) van thing. It's full of TV monitors, recording devices, screens, specialist transmission receivers, and has telescopic aerial masts and satellite dishes on its roof.
Am I spying on folk? Well, sometimes I am sorta. People love 'reality' TV full of 'oddity' type people living out their lives with a camera crew following them.
Do I whisk them off? Only when a previous one escapes from my torture dungeon.
(Damn it. Did I say that last bit out loud? :-) )

Simon Cowell, eh? He's the ****** that pays Max Clifford ****** a month to hide his ******* for **** and make out that's he's actually **** when really he's ******* and like melons.
See, there I've said it now! Censor me if you dare, Anorak Nation administrator! Pah!

An amusing reminder of how (non) energy efficient DAB radios are. Here is the new wind up Freeplay DAB radio http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ITAG=SPEC&ModuleNo=223802&doy=14m5#spec
According to Maplin this is what you get for a 60 second wind:
FM 1 hour (normal volume)
DAB 3–5 minutes (normal volume)
So to listen to DAB you would have to wind almost continuously for 15 minutes every hour.
Phew, that would keep you fit!
Only £39.99 in the sale and free biceps with every one.
