: radio that has been before?
If it was a good radio format, why ever not?
A highly eclectic mix of new and classic rock, punk, reggae, indie and good oldies.
When we turn on the FM rig, it does seem popular. No other stations are catering for this audience.

Ermm, shirley to get greater coverage. Best I've ever done on FM is 50 miles, on MW all over Europe.

"When the Earth has been ravaged and the animals are dying, a tribe of people from all races, creeds and colours shall put their faith in deeds, not words, and make the land green again. They shall be known as Warriors of the Rainbow, protectors of the environment."
So, here's an appeal: If you have a Facebook account, please add me
as your friend. You don't have to speak to me or anything (although
I do eventually answer Facebook based mail for some reason), and I
promise I won't poke you and stuff, and you certainly won't get any
rubbish applications sent by me. But, mumble-ty-nine is just not
right. Feel my pain? Help me out here?
Like you Christopher I have two accounts on FB – one is more of a public thing and one for family. I've yet to get any spurious requests on the family FB account :-)
However, re your plea, I think we're back to the same issue as Twitter, more on that in a mo, and Skype. Using FB means embracing new stuff, get my drift? Also it means laughing at the new PG Tea advert because you understand the comedy aspect.
Sure there are digital/modern thinking people on AN but I suspect many of them steer clear of commenting as they may feel they are pushing water uphill.
On the subject of apps, I would take issue because the WONDERFUL Stickam App is such a clever device – couple that with the twitter app and maybe some RSS apps, Youtube apps, oh yeah the weather for Brits app, and you have a nice place to hang out.
Agreeing most radio people have great faces for radio, I do use the video message service which works really well, I think it's 15 mins in duration and so easy to use.
BTW there is a kill 'add-friends' app now so if you want to try some new apps you don't need to invite friends :-)
So my point is that whilst I don't like the ads, easily cured though, FB does make for an easy way to connect with people in the variety of ways I want to – be it keyboard, audio, visual and I've even been known to send some cyber flowers to gals and/or guys on there birthday.
BTW2, he says dragging this back to radio, I think it's Radio World who are doing a feature on stations using new platforms like FB and even Twitter – no I'm not the author of the piece.

I've got a wiggle-band transmitter that covers the entire planet. But despite that enormous coverage there's nobody listening on the wiggle-band so I'd be better off on FM.

GREAT IMPROVEMENTS –
a DVD that will play all day for less than the price
of a blank tape. Yep things certainly have changed.
As it goes, how much the player cost for a C120 all those years back,
about £20?Eric
No Eric those Philips portables (which I saw at a car boot the other week for a fiver) were quite expensive about £45 if I remember. you could get cheaper ones but the RF from the TX used to feed back whereas the Philips was a Shielded construction and perfect for Field operations of a landbased Pirate. lol

I'm an old hippy anorak really, still hoping one day another radio station will rock the watery waves and airwaves again. Broadcasting from a radio ship has been mabe very difficult but not impossible, where there's a will there's away, but lets face it only a few people made REAL money from Caroline, or any other offshore venture. The winners really were the listeners, who got some really great broadcasts, some very exciting shows and best of all some great music, which are sadly missed by me for one.
Caroline dosen't sound like it used to. Sunshine (Ludlow) sounds nothing like the Sunshine we loved. Jackie is nothing like it used to be. Yes Radio has become bland and boring. And just putting old Pirates on a legal station will not change it. We do need something new and exciting for us oldies to Love again. Radio 2 does come close sometimes. So can we pinpoint the problem. Presenters, format, playlist. etc etc
So Johnnie Walker get working on setting up a new vibrant station your'e the man to do it. You can run it from your Barn down in Dorset, Just get some great names and have fun.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! You've been sucked in by the Applications!! Didn't you heed David Sloly's video (and why has he had to cut it short on Youtube? Who complained and about what?) about Facebook applications and just saying 'Nooooooooooooooo'?
Ok, yes, I might have accidentally succumbed to putting the Twitter application in, but that's purely because I wanted to link the Twitter thing to my Facebook status updates thusly linking them together. (Although, I suppose ideally I should link everything together via Socialthing.com)

Twitter, sigh!! Why not Jaiku? Google seems to have bough Jaiku and parked it to one side for some reason. Even without advancement, Jaiku completely outperforms Twitter, yet it's Twitter everybody supports.

I'm sure he'd please some folk, but for me it'd be a no-no. Can't stand his safe and boring style of presentation.

I've added you as a friend Christopher. I too don't have many friends as I only joined so that I could see the uploaded photos of my two son's holiday to California.
Listened to Tony Blackburn on Smooth Radio this morning. He still sounds good and all of a sudden it was 1965 again.
