Just a query on this frequency. Doing the usual knob twiddling whilst
waiting on my wife in Perry Bar Birmingham and came across a powerful
station on 106.4. Don't think it could have been a pirate as the
commercials were to good. Any idea what this is?Also- strong test tones signal, co-channel with Germany on 783 Khz heard
here (Newmarket) most evenings in the last few months- any ideas what
this could be? Direction seems to be either east or west of here (so it
must be a new radioship in the north sea surely!)No you need to listen for the new radio ship on 531khz....but not yet!
Hold on guys we are still in February, 5½ weeks to go yet :-)

Wolfman jack.... fascinating that we wan't to transmit radio when authorties wan't to control the broadcasting still to this day..What is it that makes the governments of ALL nations so scared of Freedom.
they employ thousands of jobs at monitoring services at GCHQ just to watch and listen.....how weird......

Got to be an anorak's dream (-:
I've heard it said that if you get the volume level right, you can listen to the radio in bed without you wife knowing. I say this in safety knowing that Anorak Nation is a wife-free zone.
Quoting a previous Alex Jenkins contribution:-
How many Muslims live in the UK, here in Greater Glasgow there is a
population of 600000, and an Asian population of 30000, and most of
those factions have differences of opinion about what is right, there
are Muslims and a variety of other religions in that lot, but the
Muslims play the PC card so well
When Christianity first arrived in the UK, it was brought in by force. People were starved unless they made public pronouncements about their conversion, others were killed.
As Islam takes over, I suspect it'll be a far more subtle and less traumatic experience. It'll creep up on most people. The fact that we are now discussing it, whilst 50 years ago we'd no idea what it was, is testament to that.

I just noticed that the lovely Radio Seagull is on the list of radio stations on my mobile. So, I decided to have a listen.
Well, you know me and rock oldies. Not my personal choice, of course. But, I was impressed with this Mandy bird. And Tony Christian. Both doing the station proud, not full of themselves or touring their own botties. As Mr Christian put it, a bunch of people playing good rock songs because they actually love the music, not because they love the station's name!
Another station sharing with Seagull in Tenerife on 105 is one of Ronan's Planet Caroline suite. On me mobby I can listen to the main Radio Caroline in Tenerife of course, but also the slightly heavier stream they've just launched playing the 150 Top Rock Anthems.
Well, you know me and rock oldies.... However, it does sound good and reminds me of Planet Rock. Has that closed down yet? Shame on GCap! Maybe the Seagull / Caroline combo can get itself on some DAB muxes when the GCap stations disappear. There's definitely an audience for genuine radio.
I did find another station on me mobby using the Caroline name, but when I last listened it was a religious service broadcasting pro-Christian propaganda.
Anyway, for those of you nice anoraks without magical mobile phones with loads of radio stations from around the world on them, try
http://www.planetcaroline.com/index2.htm
– that has links to the two different Caroline streams of which I has just spake.
And don't forget to support Radio Seagull
– probably the most genuine progressive rock music station on the planet.
Right, too much of this old music stuff. I'm tuning back to non-stop Horror Stories on my mobile. Yep, non-stop Radio Horror, keeping radio theatre alive. Mwahahahaha!
