Dave Cash is joined by Johnnie Walker tomorrow on his Sunday evening
show, from 7.30 p.m. I hear it will be anorak heaven. Got to tune in
to find out….www.bbc.co.uk/cgi-perl/whatson/search/daylist.cgi?service_id=50737&day=Sunday
Yes i heard about that, I believe they will be talking about Offshore Radio and the forthcoming Pirate BBC Essex broadcast should be a good listen,
I would hope it is on listen again via, http://www.bbc.co.uk/kent/local_radio/index.shtml
For those who may miss it.

Here we go again, surely Johnny and Dave are good enough broadcasters not to have to constantly harp back to the glorious days of offshore radio. Come on lads, it's surely time to move on?

Oh!! i would agree with that but even you must admit that this coming August the 40th anniversary of the introduction of the MOA is something worth talking about and commemorating,
In the words of the promo for Pirate BBC Essex and the Stones song,
This could be the last time!!

It seems to be an old people thing again; dining out on stuff that happened "when they were a lad". It used to be old folk with their expanded and re-written stories about what they did during the war. Maybe they were more worthy; a lot of them actually sacrificed so much for our freedom.
But a bunch of people who "used to be famous" dining out on their ever changing stories about how by playing pop records from ships at sea they changed the world is ridiculous. (Ever changing stories: Notice how badly inaccurate Johnnie Walker's memoirs are when it comes to recalling the real truth? He should have checked with anoraks before drafting those chapters! Maybe it's the drug abuse that's fried his brain.)
Usually there's actually a very limited audience for this sort of programming where radio people spend hours on the radio talking about radio people, so the limited audience to Radio Kent will no doubt be swelled by 4 or 5 anoraks with their hoods up, yet a few hundred ordinary listeners (are there any more than a few hundred in total anyway?) will probably switch off during all the ego stroking.

You may well be right but – don't worry – you aren't under any obligation to tune in. There's loads of choice out there, thanks to the multi-channel digital age. I've got about ten thousand stations on my internet radio, but I rather doubt that anyone else is doing this tonight, so I might tune to Radio Kent to hear something just a little bit different. It may be interesting, it may not. But it's a bit of harmless nostalgia. Perhaps, having heard it, we can review it on this forum?
Talking of nostalgia, does anyone listen to Roger Day's evening show on Radio Kent (and sister stations across the South) weekday evenings? IMHO a great choice of music, expertly presented.

Indeed, and I shall be one of those consuming something else (I'm thinking it'll either be a talking radio station or it'll be Chill) as I prepare tonight's culinary masterpiece for the assembled guinea-pigs in the house of England as we celebrate the potential launch of even more choice next year. Channel 4 eh? Marvellous organisation. :-)

If your talking about Channel 4 winning the new national DAB licence i am sorry but the proposed line up of stations still does nothing to want me to go out and buy a receiver,
From Radio Today,
4 Digital Group will offer many new stations, including E4 Radio, Channel 4 Radio, Talk Radio, Sky News Radio Radio Disney, Pure4, Closer and a female version of Virgin Radio. In addition, CanWest’s Original and LMC’s Sunrise Radio will provide a national service.

Well, what would make you happy?
Personally, I think it's quite an adventurous line-up with the accent on making radio different enough to interest people again. People sure don't listen to non-stop jukeboxes any more, so this might build an audience.
Having said all that, I suspect that by this time next year the line-up will have mutated quite a lot back into boring music-biased automated jukebox formats.

Just set this up over at www.Jaiku.com:
http://jaiku.com/channel/anorak
It's a quick-fire easy to use (easier than Anorak Nation itself) anorak chat channel. Could be worth trying out for those who find the main Anorak Nation a bit tedious to navigate. As long as you only want to say a few words at a time, it's perfect, methinks. Come and try it!

How about trying WMR on 6400 and 9710 / 9745 with some really great
programs they are getting a great signal over most of Europe on the short wave<
Ah, now, funny you should mention SW. Twice today I've been unsuccessful bidding on EBAY for a half decent multi-band receiver. At the moment I'm pretty reliant on web controlled receivers, currently listening to Radio Spaceman (I think) on 3.926.
