Strange!! Tuned in to 819 just before 7 this morning and heard Man Of
Action followed by announcments in Dutch and non stop music,Is this WNKR or something else as the signal is much weaker than WNKR
used to be and using my loop antenna it is coming from a different
direction?Richard
Hi Richard, yes I believe this is us, Steve said he'd put out a non-stop promo before putting full shows out this morning. The location is the same.
Steve wanted to move down the band as he felt the 1476 was starting to suffer from the greenery again but I said doing this would not necessarily give an improvement as the antenna system is less efficient on 819. He did want to use 1008 but it's still in use!

Hi Dave thanks for the reply, It is a test as the programme is on a short loop with Man of Action coming up about every 15 mins,
The signal here is very faint and not really worth listning to, Unlike when you are on 1476, Thats why i thought it may be something else.
Richard
I just scheduled a poll that somebody set about Doctor Who to start from tonight. And, I was thinking: Is it me or has this current series been the best ever?

Curtis goes Radio Ga Ga
Richard Curtis has been tempted back into the cinema with a period piece about the early days of pirate radio. Curtis has completed the script for The Boat That Rocked , a comedy set in the 1960s featuring DJs broadcasting poptastic tunes to a newly swinging nation. Curtis will also direct the film for his usual producers, Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan of Working Title who let slip the news at a lunch in Cannes. This will be Curtis's first film without his on-screen alter ego, Hugh Grant. Indeed, Grant's tenure as the Working Title golden boy appears to be over after more than a decade of hits for them such as Notting Hill and Love, Actually. Amid a slew of upcoming projects announced in Cannes, Grant did not feature in any of the future films from Britain's most successful producers. Working Title have, in fact, signed up Brad Pitt for two projects: one with the Coen brothers and the other starring in their big-screen adaptation of BBC drama State of Play. Rumours Brad will play Tony Blackburn on the pirate radio ship too are just silly.
Quoting a previous Richard Sharpe contribution:
Why do i get the impression this is not the photo you original intended
to publish?
You get that impression because those who want you to believe bad things about me because I reveal the real truth about them, make you suspicious of everything I do.
However, this was the only picture I was ever going to publish of 'Peter Chicago'.

Is my mind deceiving me or weren't there rumours about such a project some year(s) ago?
Or was that a different one?
Anyway. Love the idea of Brad Pitt playing Tony Blackburn. How about the part of Dave Lee Travis, the Hairy Cornplaster, being played by Jorge Garcia (the guy who plays Hurley in 'Lost!')?

I think it was a different one. The one a few years ago was based on Radio 270. It was going to have Richard E Grant playing the lead role, but I don't think they came up with the funds needed to make it.
Merseyland Alternative Radio has been on the air since Thursday night in the Merseyside area on 105 FM. And will hopefully be on the air until the early hours of Tuesday morning. There is also a live stream from an fm radio at http://shoutcast2.tidyhosts.com:9090/
Cool. Just been exploring the lovely twitter.com further and I find that if you make twitter.com/timer your friend you can send him direct messages starting with a time in minutes, and he will wait that amount of time and then send the message back. As in, "45 put potatoes on" will wait 45 minutes then send you a text saying "put potatoes on". Brilliant.
I'll get my coat.

Quoting a previous RTI Twitter feed:
Radio Tatras Interna: 29 May you will hear a special phrase on RTI. Send that phrase to ... or SMS +421907417497. One correct entry will win a NEW PC
So, do we get a clue as to what constitutes a 'special phrase', or even a heads up on when exactly we should listen? Or would that not be cricket?

Quoting a previous Steve Martin contribution:-
Please ignore! I'm having trouble with A.N. emails!
I thought it was just me. I've reported it.

I know, it's that famous Anglo-Saxonism . . .
The test on 819 is over, we are back now on 1476 until Monday evening. Results were well below par, so Steve swapped back to 1476.
If you don't try these things, then I guess you don't get to know.
