These are the latest pictures of the MV Communicator that I have, which were taken by a friend of mine who was visiting the Orkneys during the middle of October 2006.

Hullo everyone,

Some Anorak Archaeology!

Does anyone know where I can find details of the various Pirates charts for late June & early July 1967? I want to see how well The Kinks 'Waterloo Sunset' was doing.

Also, did any of the offshore stations charts actually relate to record sales?

All the best

I seem to recall that there was a poster released with the LA album – it had flags and uh... naked chicks, and stuff.

Would anyone happen to know (a) if I am hallucinating, and no such thing exists, or (b) if such a thing exists and is still available? If there is a scanned copy online somewhere, it would be interesting to see if my recollection from 20+ years ago corresponds with reality.

Thanks,
T.

http://www.radiolondon.co.uk/rl/scrap60/fabforty/index.html has the pages you want for Big L.

Ftom memory, Caroline's used to be cribbed from Melodymaker chart in the early days, but I seem to recall things got a bit "skewed" once Phil Solomon got in the chair!:-(

No you're not hallucinating, looking at mine now, large poster as well, 84 cm x 54 cm, online scan at: http://www.bobleroi.co.uk/Sales/LA_Album/LA_Album.html

Album came with two posters apparently though mine only has the naked chicks and flags one.

Hi Mr Mung, I am sorry to have to tell you this but in this instance i think you have been seriously misled by your minions,

In the interest of getting to the truth about this i have spared no expensive and hired the best private investigating firm i can find for 1p (Bill & Ben)

They have spent SECONDS searching the highways and byways of Norway, Sweden The Isle of Man and Chipping Sodbury and these are there findings,

As for it being used by IMIB that is tosh – IOMIB did have lengthy discussions with Phillips petroleum about them using one of their redundant rigs. they would pay IOMIB a lot of dosh to take it away, but the problems are the sheer size, the cost of mounting, (Smits and Wijsmullers charge a fortune for this – removing the REM Island was €300,000) – and the amount of shit inside – not just crude, but heavy metals. Cadmium, Beryllium – you name it. IOM Government didn't want it in Manx waters. Further, these rigs are about 400 feet high – they are designed to sit on the seabed in about 250 feet (40 fathoms to you mariners!) and the water in Ramsey Bay is about 30 feet,

So there you have it, Don't worry Mr Mung i wont be asking you to contribute towards the costs of this investigation, I just wish i had better news for you!

Regards

Richard

Yeah but they were gonna cut the bottom off the rig to shorten it and let all the sludge out.
