Suddenly on the OMR home page it says the sale is now withdrawn. Was it really ever for sale?

Can I assume this could result in a little channel sharing then?

Ah, I have no idea whether Steve has spoken to Badger or not , I'm not in a position to speak to those involved but Steve has so I shall question him on the subject! Well we don't want a war on our hands do we?
I personally think 1476 is a better night time channel than 846, there's a high power Irish pirate on the freq I believe.

Or maybe they were influenced by the fact that Wi-Fi radio listening is becoming increasingly more popular, who knows?

HARBOROUGH's new radio station is searching for a special person to carry out its switch-on.
Station manager Barry Badger said: "HFM is all about the community and we thought it apt that someone who lives locally should have the honour of switching the station on.
"Whether it's a youngster who has done something extra special to help somebody or an elderly person who gives up a lot of their time to support someone else, we want to hear about it."
The person selected will also get a VIP tour of the station studios, and be interviewed on air.
HFM has secured a five-year licence to provide full-time community radio to Harborough and South Leicestershire and will broadcast on 102.3FM as well as on the internet. It follows more than ten short-term broadcasts.
The station will provide a mix of music from the 60s to the present day, local news and features and specialist music shows.
Test transmissions were due to start yesterday (Wednesday) to enable new transmission equipment to be fully tested and set.
To nominate someone to switch on HFM, log onto www.harboroughfm.co.uk, or write to 102.3 HFM, Innovation House, Valley Way, Welland Business Park, Market Harborough, LE16 7PS.
Nominations must be received by Wednesday, February 7.

from stewart ross
Hmmm....Methinks it was a stunt to get people to take notice.
What surprised me was that I learnt there can only be a max of 50 listeners per server to internet stations. Not that OMR would exceed that. Hi! What with the lack of attention shown by Ofcom to MW stations these days, a Mw tx may get more listeners. In fact in the 70s, Radio sunshine on 6235khz, of which I was involved, got 50+ letters a week, for a few hours on sunday.

Well, well, what excitement.I log on to Anorak Nation, and what do I find in the centre of the main
page? An exciting exclusive picture of the actual CFA that's due to be
used to bring us love peace and good music on 279!I had to look very closely, because I was sure it had been photoshopped,
although it's very hard to tell. It looks genuine to me.
What do you think? Is it real?

What's it they say on the Guinness ads? Good things come to those who wait?> Mind you, a pint of the black stuff would probably work better than a CFA!

Hi Dave I dont agree, Here in Welling which is in your target area there is a strong German station on 1476 after dark, While 846 is quite clear,
I would imagine the reason you want to move down in frequency is to try and alleviate the attenuation problems caused by the Spring growth on the tree's etc.

Hi Richard,
The "German" station on 1476 is in fact Austria, 60 kW´s from Bisamberg which is near Vienna. It has been there since I got started in radio decades ago. It is in German though, so you partly got it right!
Regards,
Peter
