Actually, Tony Blair is very highly regarded outside the UK – so don't see how he is an embarassment for the UK. But I understand this is your opinion. But remember that this guy has won three elections in a row and would probably win the next one were he to stay as PM, despite what the opinion polls are saying at the moment. Graham, you complain that Christopher has not answered your question but I think he has. I assume you are talking about the BNP, are you?

I recently sent an e-mail to the group for the first time since the changeover. I am now getting return receipts from people reading the message. Granted that my settings are to receive a receipt for a message, however it does not usually happen on the Groups.
Do I have to turn this off everytime I post to AN? (I think it is off now!)

So how would you feel if in the great metropolis that is London Town a
muslim pirate station came on air putting out stuff like rise up against
the Government, encouraging people to go out bombing & maiming people?
Now that's radical!
Hasn't it already been done?
Actually, when it comes to Islam, methinks pirate radio isn't needed. The far more efficient 'broadcast' method is Friday prayers or watching some of the many satellite / cable TV stations originating outside the UK, and even some of them originating within the UK. These are perfectly efficient at getting that message across without having to resort to pirate radio.
Just out of interest. How many urban talk pirates are there down there?
Aha. My favourite subject. There are two main styles of talking pirate. Obviously, in all cases they don't advertise themselves as talk stations, but just include the talking as part of the programming – it's normally driven by the ability of the presenter who's turned up and to me always seems to be spontaneous without all the desperate 'menuing' you got on legal talk show.
The stations aimed at the older Afro-Caribbean generations tend to have more mature conversations, usually about god (the Christian one) and how terrible the yoot are.
The other style being the more yoof-oriented stations that will tend to chat with the audiences listening to them about the music or the events they've attended. These will also cross over to conversations about gang versus gang and things to do with da laydies and their bastard children (in the literal sense). Callers will be mid to late teens. Sex and relationships wiv mum and da bois feature heavily.
Some while ago I listened to a 'good' debate about why somebody who died had had to be stabbed and how he deserved it. Strangely fascinating, but extremely upsetting that it demonstrated the way our feral 'children' think these days, and how they live a completely parallel life that is not reflected by mainstream media. We thought it was weird to learn how 'immigrant populations' were living completely parallel lives, unaware how 'our children' are also.
What are the best ones? Do they stream so us up norf can have a listen?
I haven't been able to tune around on that analogue stuff for a while, but I'll have a go and report back. The best one I liked was Xtreme, but that recently got a heavy studio raid so it's only just got back on with 'back-up' people. I think that streams / streamed.

Bla bla bla. I didn't actually answer the question directly before going into one. There are about 65 pirates across London village, with probably 20 of these been serious, well-organised, well programmed, and with good technical standards (ie not interfering with anything). Around 15 of them will have talking shows at random times. It's usually possible to tune around and always find some chat, except when there's been a series of raids. After raids, people tend to shut up and play music for a few weeks as they regroup.

Well I think I have found Xtreme's stream (not easy to say) It is playing music at the moment but I will keep tuning in at various times to try and hear some talk.

Ofcom have recently legalised CADS on the 27 Mhz CB frequencies for any religious organisation to broadcast. This seems to have mostly been embraced by muslims for their "call to prayer" messages. So there is now no need for them to resort to piracy.
Now back in the good ole days of CB, anyone keying up playing audio of any kind would have received a visit from angry breakers and a severe talking to.

The talkie bits are normally inside an RnB show (RnB being the music of choice of yer female feral child), if that helps. Not sure of the name of the DJ, but on a Sunday I've listened mid-afternoon, I think.
They rely on having a mobile connected to the desk (well, 'mixer'), and it just rings off the hook non-stop when he / they start talking. However, the mobile will have gone in the recent studio raid, so you may be only getting music. If they are barkering for 'missed calls' (or 'dropped calls') then things will be ok and you might get yer phone-in.
Have a search out for Station FM too.
I can't have a tune around for another few hours, I's in the middle of listening to something else innit.

Steve, try http://scanner.irational.org/cgi-bin/pirates/listing.pl?sort_by=frequency
If you click the "listen" link it will adjust the tuner to the live on-air receiver until someone else changes it.

Just to return to one of Saturday's topics I note the following has been said of the BNP: The BNP "stands for the preservation of the national and ethnic character of the British people and is wholly opposed to any form of racial integration between British and non-European peoples", and is "committed to stemming and reversing the tide of non-white immigration and to restoring, by legal changes, negotiation and consent the overwhelmingly white makeup of the British population that existed in Britain prior to 1948". This was said by the BNP itself and is part of their Constitution ...... |

I find myself agreeing with this portion of the text. We (as a Country) have been far too welcoming (read: lazy) with regards to foreign people landing on our shores (and some have literally done just that). I don't think ANYBODY should be un-wittingly bullied or forced to flee their Country, but for the UK to become the "safe haven" for all-and-sundry just isn't on.
...and the rest of the BNP text reads like something from American History X.
What I don't get is why the ethnic groups and religious groups plot against the UK – I mean, after all the hot dinners and warm beds we give them ? Blimey Charlie.
Regards,
—Charlie
