Another for the boffins ... To what extent can I use the echo programme and a mike in general to use the PC as a mixer and record "progs" ??? This would really help - I've got one of Michael Caine's "great ideas" but am still in the coach !!! At everso Graham |

If it's anything like the last time a 'waste of bandwidth' is the polite way of putting it.

You can record into Audacity/your favourite editor from the soundcard's record device. Note: It'll record whatever you set the Record Mixer to, ie: Mic, Line (for dubbing off CD/MD/LP/TV, or Wave/WhatUHear - which is good if you wish to, errm, like, you know - Take a "backup" of your iTunes stuff. Ahem. Also handy for recording internet streams.
Graham - What exactly are you asking ? You want to record voice bits into it, then mix with music ? Where's the music ? On the PC, or on CD ? If CD, you can "rip" it into the PC using http://www.exactaudiocopy.de (free). If it's already on the PC, you simply open it in the editor, then "Paste Mix" under/over another track. This is where multi-track comes in very handy. You can move tracks, adjust volumes, pan, effects etc - All in "real time".
Quite where the echo comes into it, I'm not sure!

Watcha Charlie
Thnx for responding - my problem is that, although I can use most PC functions (website etc) I've never considered recording progs before for some reason. The echo thing aside I want to introduce stuff (as you do), play it by fading in and out and and go onto the next track etc. It's an idea put to me by someone and the object is to burn it onto CD and make it available.
Thanx in anticpation
Graham (offsite ...)
In my hosp radio days I used a mixer of course and it was dead easy

Well it is well off topic. For what it is worth I do not believe in capital punishment under any any circumstances. Now let's talk radio. Shaun Tilley coming to Big L - is this true? If so - where is all the money coming from?
What's going on?

Thank you, Graham, I am very relaxed. About to watch Dundee United beat
Rangers – ha ha. Sorry, that is perhaps a little off topic.
